‘I owe a lot to Brian Campbell and I try and use that as an example to mentor and encourage my staff in their careers’

Brian Campbell hired/promoted me to Bindery Supervisor in 2000. As my boss he could be demanding, but was also very fair, and I like to think he got the best out of me. He respected my knowledge and allowed me to run the department as I saw fit, provided our quotas and timelines were met. Bindery work entails a lot of materials handling and RSI injuries can happen. I approached Brian about automating some of the steps in the work, and after justifying my reasons he provided the funds to allow us to have 2 custom made machines built to reduce handling and improve output. Knowing how tight budgets can be, we were all very appreciative that he managed to do this for us. He was always supportive of the department, as well myself personally in my career here at VPL, and his advice and guidance continues to benefit me in my current work. I owe a lot to Brian Campbell and I try and use that as an example to mentor and encourage my staff in their careers.
