Thanking BC Library Conference Speakers: Donation to OpenMedia.ca
This year BCLA and the Conference Planning Committee are taking a new approach to thanking conference speakers for their participation in the BC Library Conference. In previous years we have mostly given a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine as a thank you gift. This year we discussed the best way to use a limited gift budget and, after much thought and discussion, agreed that a donation to OpenMedia.ca was an effective way to acknowledge conference speakers and ensure that a small budget has a big impact.
OpenMedia.ca is a networked, community-led, post-partisan, award-winning civic engagement organization working to safeguard the open and affordable Internet. Their policy is based on five basic principles of Internet freedom in: expression, access, openness, innovation and privacy. The majority of their support comes from small, individual donations by concerned Canadians. Their past successes include co-ordinating Stop The Meter, the largest on-line campaign in Canadian history involving over half-a-million people.
More information can be found on their website: https://openmedia.ca
We hope you are as pleased as we are to support OpenMedia.ca and to include our conference speakers in providing this support.
