9:30 am – 4:00 pm

All Day Library Tour (20 people) – FULL

Join us for an all day tour of the variety of libraries in downtown Vancouver!

10:00am – SFU Belzberg Library – Come see this urban downtown space and the resources it provides for students throughout the Province. The SFU Belzberg Library supports programs and faculties including Business Administration, Gerontology, Liberal Studies, Publishing, Urban Studies, and Public Policy. This is a chance to tour a university library in an urban environment.

11:00am – VPL Central Branch – Tour VPL’s iconic Central Library and learn more about the significant changes recently made to their information services model. This is also a chance to hear about VPL’s exciting plans for an Inspiration Lab, the expansion of the library to Levels 8 and 9, and ideas for a roof garden. Scholars at Heinrich Heine University, Dusseldorf, recently named the VPL, along with the Montreal Public Library, the number one libraries in world cities.

2:00pm – Vancouver Courthouse Library – Visit the Courthouse Libraries BC and discuss their practice-based collection and historical legislative materials. The tour will expand out of the library and explore the full Courthouse building,including the Court Registry, Court Rooms, Great Hall, and Rooftop Garden.

3:00pm – Vancouver Art Gallery Library & Archive – Come explore the library, archives, and special collections that document Vancouver’s past and present activities. Get a behind-the-scenes look at this heritage building and learn how the library supports the gallery!

We will meet in the lobby of the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel and 9:30am. The tour group will walk to each Library and take a break for lunch at the end of the VPL Central Branch tour and reconvene at the Vancouver Courthouse Library tour for 2:00pm.

What to Bring? Lunch or money to purchase lunch at one of the many restaurants, cafes or food trucks found downtown.

1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Gastown Walking Food Tour – $51 (16 people)

Wednesday, April 2nd

12:15 – 1:30 pm

Tour VPL’s iconic Central Library and learn more about the significant changes they’ve made to information services, and about their exciting plans for an Inspiration Lab, Levels 8+9 and the roof garden.

We will meet in the lobby of the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel at 12:15 to walk over to the Central Library and will return by 1:30 for the afternoon sessions.

5:30 – 8:00 pm

Dine out at one of downtown Vancouver’s excellent restaurants. Catch up with friends and get to know colleagues over a delicious meal and glass of wine. Reservations have been made and directions will be provided. All you need to do is come and enjoy!

The Irish Heather Librarian Long Table (30-40 people, $23+) – This specially convened Librarian Long Table will be an intimate gathering of friends and colleagues sitting together along the 40 foot communal table. It will be like a family dinner but without the clean-up . The hearty meal will include an artisan beer/beverage with options, choice of  Roast Beef with Mashed Potatoes, Gravy and Brussel Sprouts and the vegetarian/vegan option will be: Vegan Pot Pie with Kale Caesar http://www.irishheather.com/

Cactus Club Coal Harbour (20 people, $25+) – Come enjoy the cool and casual west coast cuisine with panoramic views of the North Shore mountains and Stanley Park. We have booked the private dining room for our group. http://www.cactusclubcafe.com 

Date/Time? Wednesday, April 2nd at 5:30pm.
Each restaurant group will meet with their Dine Out host in the lobby of the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel at 5:30 to walk to the restaurants. Directions will be provided to those who wish to meet the group at the venue or who will arrive by another mode of transportation.

What to bring? All attendees of the Dine Out dinners are expected to cover their own bill and tip, the fun is included!
