I\u2019m delighted to open this year\u2019s call for nominations to the BCCATS J. McRee Elrod Leadership Award. Nominations will close Friday, February 23, 2025.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>About the award:<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The BCCATS J. McRee Elrod Leadership Award recognizes excellence in technical services of an individual or team working in British Columbia. The award honours <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/J._McRee_Elrod\">J. McRee (Mac) Elrod (1932-2016)<\/a>, a founder of BCCATS, and draws inspiration from Mac\u2019s lifelong dedication to patron-centred values, social justice, and intellectual freedom. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/bccats\/bccats-j-mcree-elrod-leadership-award\/\">the Award webpage<\/a> for a list of previous recipients.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Nomination criteria will include at least some of the following:<\/strong><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated impact on users, the library and\/or colleagues across B.C.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated collaboration with colleagues or other institutions<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to intellectual freedom principles, beyond ideology or partisanship<\/li>\n<li>Worthy of inspiring similar efforts within the profession<\/li>\n<li>Must have worked in B.C. within the past year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><strong>Examples of activities having an impact on technical services might include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Mentoring or leading workshops for library workers, especially those expanding their portfolio or transitioning into technical services<\/li>\n<li>Initiating new or improved best practices, such as: developing or implementing formats, methods, techniques, equipment or routines that demonstrate creativity and innovation<\/li>\n<li>Leveraging technical services for Indigenous and other underserved populations<\/li>\n<li>Active involvement in professional organizations<\/li>\n<li>Contributions to publication and\/or research<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of innovative projects, programs, or services<\/li>\n<li>Exemplary record or lifelong impact on extending technical services for libraries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><strong>How to nominate a candidate for the BCCATS J.
