BCLA commits to preparing an anti-racist policy for the Association

The British Columbia Library Association condemns systemic and institutional racism and the disproportionate level of police violence in Canada and the US against Black and Indigenous people. BCLA is in solidarity with the protests going on right now and see these diversity of tactics as an indication of the people standing up for justice and peace. BCLA commits to preparing a specific anti-racism policy to guide the work of the Association and to help inform the role of information professionals. BCLA acknowledges a policy only has political weight to make change once it is enacted.
