The Call for Proposals for the 2022 BC Library Conference is open until December 3, 2021.
You can read the submission FAQs and submit a proposal via the online portal.
The 2022 BC Library Conference is focused on coming together to examine and redefine libraries and library services in the context of a world that has radically changed in the past 2 years.
Our theme is Collective Restoration. Not restoration of libraries as they were in the past, but rather restoration of ourselves and our sector, to emerge refreshed and ready to meet the new challenges we face and the evolving needs of our communities. For more on our theme, visit our conference website.
We encourage potential presenters to submit session proposals that range from practical to theoretical, with a focus on content applicable to current and future work. We welcome creative interpretations of what Collective Restoration may mean for different people in their varied areas of library work.
If you have any problems accessing the submission site, please contact our Conference Coordinator, Shannon Stumph at: firstname.lastname@example.org
How the 2022 Conference will be different from past Conferences?
This will be BCLA’s first hybrid conference. After exploring options, we decided to have a 2-part conference over the course of 4 days, from April 19-22. Virtual sessions will be presented on Tuesday and in-person sessions, events, and trade show will take place from Wednesday evening through to Friday afternoon. There will be little to no duplication of sessions between the virtual and in-person days.
Review of possible hybrid indicated that trying to combine virtual and in-person in the same sessions often results in a lesser experience for those attending virtually and can be expensive. This year, we chose to focus on a shorter virtual experience that is of a high quality.
We chose this model knew it was essential to maintain the virtual option, and not just go back to what we have done in the past. We heard from you that the virtual option allowed more people to attend and worked better for some learning styles. We also heard from many of you that you are eager to gather in-person again. We look forward to learning from this new experience and refining the conference for future years based on your feedback.
