Changes in BC SRC – Welcome Stephanie Hong

The BC Library Association is pleased and proud to announce that Stephanie Hong will assume the BC Summer Reading Club Provincial Coordinator position on September 8th, 2020.

Some of you have worked with Stephanie at the Vancouver Public Library or at Surrey Libraries, or have been communicating with her as part of the BC Summer Reading Club team these past six months. We are all deeply impressed with Stephanie’s work with the BC SRC. She consistently demonstrates imaginative and innovative ways to grow the program. Stephanie is a flexible thinker, a creative problem solver and most importantly, a huge supporter of BC SRC! With Stephanie’s guidance we hope to grow BC SRC’s online profile and develop a uniquely tween component of the program. We couldn’t be in better hands.

While we welcome Stephanie, we also say goodbye to Cynthia Ford. Cynthia has been the BC SRC Provincial Coordinator for eight years. Under Cynthia’s guidance BC SRC was modernized, streamlined, and effectively supported as a province-wide summer reading club. Cynthia built an agile and flexible program capable of meeting every challenge that came its way, including the challenges presented by COVID-19. Cynthia established a strong BC SRC, grounded in evidence, supported through relationships, and proudly championed by library staff across the province.

Although Cynthia is leaving BC SRC, she continues at BCLA as the Association’s Project Coordinator.

We are all excited by the next phase of BC SRC, excited to begin working with Stephanie, and excited to continue to grow and shape BC SRC to meet the needs of public libraries and the communities they serve.
