Question:\u00a0<\/b>What kind of support does your institution provide for developing skills in technology? (Check all that apply)<\/b><\/p>\n

Of the 143 respondents, 10% said their workplace provides none of the support options. For the remaining calculations, we removed those\u00a0respondents\u00a0from the population and considered the responses of only those\u00a0129\u00a0respondents who have institutional support.<\/p>\n

While the majority\u00a0of respondents\u00a0selected 2-3 types of support (including \u2018other\u2019) offered by their employer,\u00a018% of respondents indicated only one type of support\u00a0available to them.<\/p>\n

On-site training is the most common type of support (indicated by 72% of respondents). Financial support (57%) and logistical support (56%) are available at a majority of locations as well.<\/p>\n

Elaborations in the ‘other\u2019 category were also enlightening, often qualifying the respondent\u2019s additional selections. For example, one respondent noted that even if support was available it was expected to be done on the employee\u2019s own time, while another respondent highlighted that it\u2019s hard to take advantage of some\u00a0available\u00a0support, like webinars, from a reference desk or\u00a0patron-centric position.\u00a0Another\u00a0respondent candidly pointed out they aren\u2019t aware of\u00a0if support\u00a0is\u00a0institutionally\u00a0available for technology.<\/p>\n
