Before the BCLA Perspectives editorial board even had a chance to realize\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/what-do-we-mean-by-outreach\/\">there&#8217;s no clear definition of outreach<\/a> in the library world<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, we\u2019d received numerous submissions with examples from academic, community, and public libraries, and organizations. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Libraries are launching new technologies (like RPL\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/11\/09\/richmond-public-library-introduces-its-new-book-dispenser\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">book dispenser <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/reaching-our-community-through-wechat\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WeChat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), updating strategies (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/outreach-with-out-on-the-shelves-library\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Out on the Shelves<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tackled website page ranking, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/02\/starting-big-conversations-on-twitter-how-indigitization-has-revitalized-its-social-media-engagement\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indigitization<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> changed Twitter tactics for more meaningful engagement, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/11\/25\/student-engagement-is-serious-fun\/\">University of Waterloo <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Library Communications Team<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> found a new voice), and rolling&#8211;literally, <a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/library-live-and-on-tour\/\">just ask <\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/library-live-and-on-tour\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">LiLi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211;with what works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Contributors are challenging us to try new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/11\/21\/empowering-with-gis\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">topics <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and find new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/outreach-to-rural-members\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">groups<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for outreach, to consider how outreach can <a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/educational-outreach-in-bc-library-programs\/\">increase diversity of the profession<\/a>, and to see how outreach fits into the bigger picture alongside <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/quantity-vs-quality-of-outreach-assessing-event-outcomes\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">program assessment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bclaconnect.ca\/perspectives\/2018\/12\/03\/langara-librarys-vhs-project-the-good-the-bad-and-the-outreach\/\">collection management<\/a> and modernization<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are blown away by the enthusiasm shared by everyone who contributed so thoughtfully to this issue. We hope the energy continues with the first issue of 2019: Collaboration. From GLAM activities to community partnerships, cultural programs, and one-off exhibitions, we want to know what\u2019s happening&#8211;and what\u2019s not but should be&#8211;in addition to the challenges faced, the lessons learned, and what opportunities you see in the future. We also hope you&#8217;ll help us develop the issue.\u00a0Email perspectives@bcla.bc.ca with story ideas or for more information\u00a0about\u00a0collaborating with the editorial board on the\u00a0Collaboration issue.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Oh!
