British Columbia Library Association

Professional Development Institute

The BCLA Professional Development Institute (PDI) was established to support two goals of the Association’s Strategic Plan: providing creative and innovative professional development opportunities and developing the Association’s financial capacity.

The PDI supports member’s professional development needs with an in-depth approach to training and learning. While the BC Library Conference strives to introduce ideas and concepts as part of professional development, the PDI balances this approach with hands-on and fulsome opportunities for engaged learning.

The PDI was also established so BCLA can raise funds to support the Association as a whole. One goal of every PDI offering is to help build the Association’s capacity to continue funding other professional opportunities.

At this time the BCLA PDI is pleased to announce two professional development opportunities offered on Wednesday, April 19, in conjunction with the 2017 BC Library Conference.*

IT in the Library: The Power of Networks: a workshop for IT professionals (network managers, systems analysts), digital services librarians, public technology services staff, library systems staff, library managers/directors with responsibility for IT.

Youth Services Institute: a day of professional development for library staff who serve children and families.

Please note: Each of these offerings is a stand-alone event and thus registration is separate from the BC Library Conference. Each BCLA PDI session is designed to be independently registered for and attended.
