Call for Volunteers: BCALS CV Clinic

Dear colleagues,

The BC Academic Libraries Section (BCALS) is excited to announce the annual CV/resume clinic for MLIS, MAS, and Library Technician students and recent graduates seeking their first positions in academic libraries.

We’re hoping for volunteers who have hiring experience and advice for preparing job applications for positions in academic libraries. The event will be held online over the course of two weeks with meeting times arranged based on your schedules. We expect that each one-on-one session will take around 30 minutes, and that each volunteer will meet with a max of 2-3 students throughout the two weeks.

Date: March 27th – April 7th
Time: TBD by volunteers and students
Location: Online

As a CV/resume clinic volunteer you will receive a CV from 2-3 clinic participants in advance, and will provide feedback to students an online meeting session on such things as the format, layout, and organization of their CV; the clarity of language and the use of active voice; suggestions on applying their experience to respond to job qualifications; and anything else you feel would be relevant to their job search.

If you are able to volunteer for the CV Clinic, please fill out the BCALS CV Clinic Survey by Friday, March 3rd, 2023

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please feel free to get in touch with us at [email protected].
Thank you for your consideration,
BCALS Continuing Education Coordinators
