Young Adult and Children’s Services Section

The Young Adult and Children’s Services (YAACS) is a section of the British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) dedicated to supporting library staff who serve children, teens, and families throughout British Columbia.

YAACS brings together librarians, teacher-librarians, students, library technicians, and other library workers with a shared interest in youth services. Through professional development opportunities, networking, resource sharing, and advocacy, we help strengthen library services for young people across the province.

Our community is committed to fostering literacy, creativity, learning, and belonging. By sharing ideas, celebrating innovation, and supporting one another, we work to ensure that children and teens have access to engaging, inclusive, and meaningful library experiences.

Get Involved

Whether you’re new to youth services or an experienced practitioner, YAACS offers opportunities to connect, learn, and contribute to the future of youth librarianship in British Columbia.

Attend a Meeting

Join us at our regular YAACS meetings to learn about current initiatives, share ideas, and connect with colleagues working in communities across the province. Meetings are open to anyone interested in library services for children and teens and provide an opportunity to help shape the direction of the section, while staying informed about upcoming events and projects.

YAACS meetings take place the last Wednesday of each month from 12:00 to 1:00 PM (PST) on Zoom. The Zoom meeting link is shared on the online forum the week prior to the monthly meeting date.
