Call for Contributions: BCALS Knowledge and Idea Exchange 2024

BC Academic Libraries Section (BCALS) and previously known as the “Winter Event”, the Knowledge and Idea Exchange 2024 is a synchronous discussion forum for librarians, archivists, library workers, and students. Our goals are to promote the exchange of ideas in the academic library community and to build a network of professional expertise resulting in excellent service and the use of the latest methods, systems, and technologies in post-secondary libraries in British Columbia.

We are pleased to share that the BC Academic Libraries Section (BCALS) and the Keeping it ReAL 2024 Organizing Committee are partnering to host complementary virtual events on November 14 and 15, 2024. The Knowledge and Idea Exchange will take place on November 15.

Event Description

Unlike in previous years, this event is not themed. BCALS invites you to share any initiatives, successes, trials and tribulations, or even just burning questions you want to discuss with a group of peers. Our first session of the day will be an open roundtable on AI and library instruction which we hope will inform future professional development offerings.

We welcome all library workers, including emerging professionals, student assistants, and library technicians, to submit contributions.

Tentative Schedule

9:45 – 10:00 Welcome and check-in—what’s happening in your library?

10:00 – 11:30 Open roundtable on Gen AI library instruction

12:00 – 14:00  Sessions
