The British Columbia Library Association leads the library community in advocacy, professional development, and support of intellectual freedom. Membership in BCLA is open to everyone engaged in library, archival, or information work or studies, as well as anyone who is a current or past member of a library board or is retired from a career in library, archival or information work.
Your membership helps to support BCLA’s provincial and federal advocacy on important topics such as copyright, climate action, and funding for libraries.
Our members also receive exclusive discounts on the annual BC Library Conference and other education events. Individual and Institution Members receive voting privileges for the AGM, and may serve on BCLA Sections, Committees & Interest Groups. BC Library Conference
Each year the BCLA presents an annual conference, offering opportunities for inspiration, professional growth and networking with vendors and colleagues. It is an opportunity for the library community to come together to strengthen existing relationships, forge new connections and collectively celebrate our work. BCLA members attend the conference at a reduced member rate.
Mentorship Program
The BCLA Mentorship Program exists to connect and empower Association members by fostering positive relationships in the library community. The program encourages sharing, and aims to promote leadership and commitment to the profession. Mentees must be BCLA members, although it is free for students and new grads.
BC Summer Reading Club Merchandise Savings

BCLA Institutional Members receive discounts on BC SRC t-shirts and novelties as part of the program’s annual fundraising initiative. Items are available in the Spring and Summer.
