BCLA is pleased to announce the release of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Strategies in Recruitment Toolkit, a project led by Jessica Lee to address how we can diversify our sector through strategies in recruitment — with a focus on achieving a more racially equitable workforce.
This toolkit was created to disrupt the biases and barriers our libraries have imposed on racialized groups when it comes to hiring. It outlines actionable steps to transform your recruitment process for the better and build a stronger workforce. The toolkit provides practical recommendations that are applicable and scalable for all sizes and types of information organizations. We encourage you to explore the toolkit and consider how you can take action to make your recruitment and selection processes more equitable.
Jessica will be offering several presentations to introduce the toolkit and talk about this project, the process, key findings from speaking with IBPOC library candidates and hiring managers, and next steps on how you can strengthen your organization by building a diverse and inclusive workforce. You can attend her session at the 2023 BC Library Conference or watch for a webinar later this spring.
We want to express our thanks to Jessica for creating this valuable and timely resource for the library sector, and we look forward to seeing it implemented in BC libraries!
