Write down HOT Ideas! and you think lists. Well, the list of sessions at the joint British Columbia Library Association/British Columbia Library Trustees Association Conference at Harrison HOT Springs is impressive!
The 2003 Conference Planning Committee has put together a thoughtful but eclectic slate of programs. Do you need to beef up, or should that be fish up, the customer service techniques in your library? Then the pre-conference session, FISH: Philosophy and Leadership, is for you. Are you concerned that you can’t keep up with changing technologies? Then the sessions on OAI and Koha, or maybe Dewey 22 (at least here is a word that we may all recognize) are for you. Are you concerned about what is happening in our school libraries, strategic planning for our public libraries in BC, or how to make library instruction relevant at the academic library level? Then there is something for you as well. And trustees, don’t miss the sessions on advocacy and fund raising!
Our conference speakers and presenters are as varied as the sessions. Come out and meet Mike Eisenberg from the School of Information at the University of Washington. Vicki Whitmell will present on a currently HOT topic, succession planning. Hear from some authors as they present on how they develop their novels or on topics that have developed into books.
Harrison Hot Springs at the end of May should be a rejuvenating, relaxing and recreational haven. We look forward to seeing you IN the HOT Springs at HOT Ideas!
