Impact of Tariffs on BC Libraries

Join us for a timely session on the anticipated impact of tariffs on BC public libraries, presented by Scott Hargrove, Chief Executive Officer of Fraser Valley Regional Library. Recent tariffs imposed on Canada and countries around the world by the U.S., have caused significant alarm within the publishing world and a nationwide response from libraries and bookstores as books are proposed to be included in the next round of Canadian counter tariffs. The situation is far from over with further concerns for the economy, such as increasing costs and inflation, and a strain on supply-chain demands causing uncertainty and market instability. Attend this session with your questions! Presented in partnership with the BC Library Trustees Association.

When: Friday, May 30th, 10:00am – 11:15am on Zoom (recording will include transcript)

Who should attend: All library workers and trustees, with an emphasis on leadership roles

Cost: We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, which enables us to offer this event free of charge.
