Personal Planning and Representation Agreements

Title: Personal Planning and Representation Agreements

When: Tuesday, June 9th at 2pm-3pm Pacific on Zoom

Description: Are your patrons aware of their options when planning for incapacity, end-of-life, and other support needs? Does your library know where to find resources to answer their questions? Libraries have long been a resource hub for all sorts of questions. As BC is seeing a shift toward aging populations, it is even more important to be informed about how people can get the support and access the care they need when they need it most.

Navigating legal processes can be intimidating. In this presentation, the Executive Director & Lawyer at Nidus, a non-profit organization rooted in grassroots legal reform, will provide an overview to help you cover the basics and understand the resources at your disposal. The presentation will answer questions such as:
  • What is personal planning?
  • How is it different from estate planning?
  • What if I have a Will and an Enduring Power of Attorney – am I covered?
  • What if I can’t make any of these documents? What will happen to me in an emergency if I can’t speak for myself?
  • What if I don’t have family nearby?
  • Why register my legal documents?
If you have questions, feel free to email them in advance.
